Roma Linked to Braga Forward Ahead of Likely Retool

Director Florent Ghisolfi has yet to be formally hired by Roma, but the rumors about his first moves are starting to trickle in, and they have been proposed Simon Banza, who has been filling his boots with Braga. He’s the second leading scorer in the Portuguese league having hit the net 21 times. He has added four assists and bagged two goals in the Europa League.

According to Calciomercato, the striker is represented by Lian Sport, the same agency as Federico Chiesa. His name came up during the conversations about the Juventus star. The Giallorossi plot to make an attempt if he doesn’t extend his contract.

The prospective new Roma director is already familiar with Banza. They were together at Lens the season they got promoted to Ligue 1. He then transferred to Farmalicao temporally and finally to Braga in 2022 for €2.96M. He’s looking to join a big team next.

The Giallorossi will have to rebuild their frontline in the summer. Romelu Lukaku and Sardar Azmoun are on loan and have little chances of being confirmed. They’ll have to decide what to do with Tammy Abraham following a major injury and a so-so return.

They might not even try to keep Lukaku unless Chelsea really give him away, which won’t be the case early in the summer. Then, they’ll have to assess whether Abraham could br their no.1 scoring option. If not, they’ll have to go after more surefire center-forwards.
